AMC to AIME and USA Olympiads

Start with AMC 10 or AMC 12 and pursue MAA’s invitational mathematics exams.

Who it’s for: Students meeting each exam’s age and grade rules

Your first step

Find an approved AMC host and check which exam you are eligible to take.

Open official guide ↗

The route

  1. 1
    AMC 10 or AMC 12

Take an eligible exam through an approved competition manager.

  2. 2
    AIME

Qualifying students follow MAA’s invitation and testing-center registration process.

  3. 3
    USAJMO or USAMO

MAA selects eligible students under the current olympiad qualification policy.

Before you commit: AMC 8 is a separate introductory contest, not an AIME qualifier; 2027 olympiad selection no longer uses the former AMC-plus-AIME index.
